Established on January 13th, 1945, Ganesh Dutt College (G. D. College)Begusarai stands as a testament to the vision of Sir Ganesh Dutt, a prominent figure in the making of modern Bihar. The embodiment of this vision was facilitated by Babu Bishwanath Singh Sharma, leading to the establishment of this premier institution. Over the years, the college has evolved into a multifaceted educational hub, offering courses in Social Sciences & Humanities, Natural Sciences, and Commerce from Intermediate to Post Graduation levels.

Academic Excellence in G. D. College

Situated in the heart of Begusarai, acknowledged as the industrial capital of Bihar, Ganesh Dutt College has consistently proven its vitality since its inception. Initially affiliated with Patna University, it later became a part of Bihar University and Bhagalpur University before becoming a constituent college of L.N. Mithila University, Darbhanga, in 1976. Recognizing its rich history, the UGC has honored the college with the title of an ‘Old and Reputed College’ in a letter dated March 27, 2001.

Adapting to Modern Education in G. D. College

Ganesh Dutt College is changing with the times! They offer new programs like Industrial Microbiology, and they partner with IGNOU and LNMU to provide more options for students. The college also helps students with extra support programs like coaching, career counseling, and resources.

Social Responsibility and Cultural Preservation

The college values both academic excellence and social responsibility. The National Service Scheme (NSS) and National Cadet Corps (NCC) programs actively shape students into responsible individuals. The Department of Games, Sports, and Culture works with the Department of AIH Culture and Archaeology to protect Bihar’s cultural heritage.

The Department of AIH Culture and Archaeology is unique in Bihar. In 2004, they dug at Birpur (Begusarai) with permission from the Archaeological Survey of India. They are also the only college department in Bihar with its own museum.

Accreditation and Development

In 2005, Ganesh Dutt College voluntarily underwent assessment by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The expert committee, headed by Dr. H. S. Soch, former Vice-Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University, adjudged the college as B++. Utilizing grants throughout the years, the college has continuously facilitated students with various components of the modern education system.
