CAMPUS OF MEDICAL COLLEGE
The Jannayak Karpoori Thakur Medical College and Hospital, located near Jajhat, Sabaila, Singheshwar Road NH-106 in Madhepura District of Bihar State, covers an area of 25 acres, with 68 percent of its land designated as greenfield. Previously known as Government Medical College, Madhepura, it was renamed Jannayak Karburi Thakur Medical College and Hospital on June 1, 2015, through a departmental resolution
Construction of the medical college was initiated on March 16, 2008, undertaken by L & T Construction. The hospital boasts 500 beds, all equipped with oxygen facilities, and provides various specialized units such as ICU, ICCU, NICU, PICU, and SICU. The institution prioritizes modern technology to deliver state-of-the-art healthcare services to the residents of Madhepura, Supaul, and Saharsa districts of the Koshi region, free of charge.
Inaugurated by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar on March 7, 2020, the medical college began with an initial enrollment of 100 MBBS students in 2020, and currently accommodates students across three batches. The campus offers various recreational facilities for students including a gym, indoor stadium, basketball, badminton, volleyball, billiards, football, and carom board.
Academically, the college provides departments such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, F.M.T., P.A.S.M., Orthopedics, General Surgery, General Medicine, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Anesthesiology, T.B. Chest Medicine, Radiology, and P.A.M.R. Additionally, a blood bank was established on September 21, 2022, and the facility offers cancer screening, kidney dialysis, and CT scan services.
The campus also hosts a building for B.Sc Nursing studies, slated to commence soon. A central library is stocked with medical books and journals of the latest publications, and the entire campus is equipped with Wi-Fi (1GBPS) and modal OAT0 facilities. All buildings within the college and hospital premises are air-conditioned. Moreover, a 20-bed facility for Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy is available within the hospital.
