Your School’s Facebook Page: Ignore Making This Mistake
Is your school’s Facebook page just photos and captions? Check your posts from last month and see if you included:
- News about your school
- Interesting stories
- Links to blog posts on your website
Sharing stories and news with links keeps your Facebook page engaging and helps people learn more about your school. Don’t just make it a photo album!
Make your website the center of your Facebook page strategy!
- Website as Content Hub: Your website should be the main place for your school news, stories, and blog articles. Add new content weekly.
- News: Post 2-4 short news articles with photos on your website every week. Share important school news!
- Stories: Highlight your school community with stories about faculty, students, parents, and alumni. Post at least 2 stories each week. Show people the real people who make your school special!
- Blog: Publish a blog post (300-600 words) once a week with helpful information for parents (current and prospective) and the community. The Sewickley Academy blog is a great example.
With this approach, your website becomes a content hub with fresh content every week. Then you can share this content on Facebook along with some photos and captions about school life.
Benefits Of Facebook page:
- Dynamic Facebook Page: This will give your Facebook page a variety of interesting content to share.
- More Website Visitors: People will be directed to your website to read the full news, stories, and blog posts. Last year, one school I coached saw a 1000% increase in website traffic from Facebook with this strategy!
- Boost Important Posts: Pay to promote some of your best website content so it appears in more people’s news feeds and gets your school even more exposure.
Don’t just promote your website on Facebook with photos! Share interesting content from your website too, like:
- News articles about your school
- Stories about your teachers, students, parents, and alumni
- Helpful blog posts for parents
This will make your Facebook page more interesting and get people to visit your website to learn more about your school. Is this something you can try at your school?
