About the School
St. Michael’s High School, located in Digha Ghat, Patna, was founded in 1858 by Dr. Anastasius Hartmann of the Franciscan Missionary Society. Initially a boarding school for poor and orphaned boys under the Catholic Church, it has grown significantly in both student numbers and infrastructure. Today, it educates over 3000 students, both boys and girls.
Since 1968, the Patna Jesuit Society, part of the global Jesuit organization founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540, manages the school. The Jesuit Society operates many educational institutions worldwide, including 270 schools and 125 colleges in India, serving about 360,000 students in various languages.
St. Michael’s High School is a Minority Charitable Institution affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), preparing students for the Class X and Class XII exams. The school continues to thrive as it celebrates its 155th anniversary.
